Cosomix 1500 Bolus

Cosomix 1500 Bolus combines two synergistic antimicrobial agents (Sulphamethoxazole and Trimethoprim) to provide broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Sulphamethoxazole, a bacteriostatic sulfonamide, inhibits the conversion of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) to dihydro folic acid (DFA) by competitively blocking the enzyme dihydropteroate synthase. Trimethoprim, a bactericidal agent, inhibits the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase, preventing the conversion of DFA to tetrahydro folic acid, an essential cofactor for bacterial DNA and protein synthesis. This sequential blockade of the folate pathway results in a potentiated and highly effective antibacterial action.

This combination is indicated for the treatment of:

• Cattle: Gastrointestinal tract infections, Respiratory tract infections, Uterine tract infections.
  
  
• Poultry: Colibacillosis (Escherichia coli), Salmonellosis (Salmonella spp.), Infections caused by Haemophilus and Pasteurella spp., Coccidiosis (Eimeria spp.).
